More than 'just' the mountains.

I have spent my life in the outdoors, coming as I do from an outdoor family. I have participated in just about every peaceful outdoor activity there is, on land, water and in the air. I also have an interest in the history of the area both ancient and modern.

I am an ardent supporter of the Outdoor Industry and work to promote its benefits at the highest level within the devolved Welsh Assembly Government.

I am presently undertaking an MSc in Advanced Energy & Environmental Studies at the Centre for Alternative Energy. I never thought I would go back to education, maybe that's what being forty does to you, but even the MSc is outdoor environment focussed!

All this gives me an unique perspective on the mountains that I love and this is passionately shared with my clients.

I work with small groups (max 5 ish) who wish to have a social day out on the hills. I am happy to guide the popular routes but am also keen to take people off the beaten paths and into the more esoteric areas of the Welsh hills in search of something different.

Cader Idris, The Nantlle Ridge, The Hebog Group, Y Moelwyn, The Glyders, Caerneddau and Snowdon. The Rhynogs, Yr Eifl and the Moel Eilio Ridge.

For those who are happy to stay at lower altitudes there is a two or three day walk around the base of Snowdon, an unique and varied delight.

I prefer to work with people who already walk in the hills (even if only a little) but who also like to have their trips informed by a local expert.

From Celtic and Roman history to WW2 crash sites and climbing history. The Mabinogion, Folk Tales and the meaning of those Welsh place names.

For the technically minded I can help you get to grips with map and gps navigation, route making and mountain safety too.

I am a keen photographer and this can become the focus of a day out if required. I always carry a camera and a cd containing all images of the day is part of the service.
